It is hard to find a comparative ranking for hybrid cars, so how do you compare hybrid cars if you have trouble getting the information that you need? Luckily there are not that many types of hybrid vehicles on the market today, so when you decide to compare hybrid cars there are only a couple of options that you really need to put stock into. These hybrid vehicles come in a wide variety of different shapes and sizes, too.
So how do you compare hybrid cars? How do you judge the ranking for a small Prius in comparison to a Lexus LS, a luxury hybrid car, and a full sized hybrid like the Chevy Silverado? These vehicles actually have very little in common aside from the fact that they are hybrid vehicles.
The best selling hybrid cars, at least a couple of years ago during the boom in hybrid car manufacturing, were the Toyota Prius with 48,156 units, Toyota Highlander Hybrid with 18,127 units, Honda Civic Hybrid with 15,755 units, Lexus RX 400h with 11,193 units, Ford Escape Hybrid with 10,190 units, Toyota Camry Hybrid with 7,386 units, Honda Accord Hybrid with 3,245 units, Mercury Mariner Hybrid with 1,461 units, Lexus GS 450h with 525 units, and Honda Insight with 489 units sold.
The Toyota Hybrid car seems to be the best seller. The Prius as well as the Highlander alone are making up for about 50% of the entire hybrid market in the United States. And yet hybrid car sales are only currently accounting for approximately 1% of the entire car market in the United States. Many experts are predicting that this is going to be changing rapidly in the next few years, and it should not be difficult to see why. There are political, economic and environmental reasons why more Americans are looking toward fuel efficient alternatives to modern automobiles.
Out of all of the most efficient cars in terms of fuel economy, the top three in the nation are all green machines or hybrid vehicles. The Honda Insight gets 50 miles per gallon for the city and 66 miles per gallon on the highway. The Toyota Prius gets 50 miles per gallon for the city and 51 miles per gallon on the highway. The Honda Civic Hybrid gets 49 miles per gallon for the city and 51 miles per gallon on the highway.
Another way to compare hybrid cars is by the type of car. For example, the Toyota Prius is a small sedan, the Honda Civic Hybrid is a small sedan, the Honda Accord Hybrid is a family sedan, the Lexus RX 400h is a mid-size SUV, the Lexus GS450h is a luxury sedan, and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid is a mid-sized SUV.
There are many ways to compare hybrid cars – The trick is to figure out what is most important to you and compare your options accordingly.
