The hybrid diesel electric car has been under develop since as far back as early 1993 in the United States, but the only hybrid diesel electric vehicle to reach production so far has been the Dodge Ram. The Dodge Ram hybrid diesel electric car is build on the chassis for the Ram Heavy Duty, 2500 / 3500 and will be equipped with diesel electric hybrid propulsion. Diesel works well in conjunction with hybrid vehicles because it offers fuel economy savings with a diesel in comparison to similar gasoline powered engines.
The main reason for why customers are going to opt for hybrid diesel electric vehicles like the Dodge Ram are the improved fuel economy of up to 15 percent over comparable vehicles, and lower emissions. The Dodge Ram hybrid diesel electric is also going to offer another excellent benefit: This truck is going to be able to operate as an electric generator, providing as much as 110/220-volt AC power which will be extremely useful for construction job sites, during power emergencies and so on.
For passenger cars in European countries, there is an Opel Astra Diesel hybrid diesel electric that uses a two mode full hybrid system based on co development between GM and Daimler Chrysler. The Opel Astra GTC Coupe hybrid diesel electric was introduced in the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan in 2005. This hybrid diesel electric vehicle is equipped with a diesel engine with 125 horsepower and a 1.7 liter CDTI diesel. Compared to standard Astra diesel vehicle, the Astra Diesel hybrid electric vehicle happens to be a surprising 25 percent more fuel efficient, which is a serious savings. The Opel Astra hybrid diesel electric is a popular car that will be sold in many European countries, but it will not see the light of day in the markets in the United States.
Another diesel hybrid vehicle that is being manufactured is the Peugeot Citroen. This hybrid diesel electric exists as an effort to achieve a combined fuel economy by as much as 70 miles per gallon, with a significant decrease in carbon-dioxide emissions to only 90 grams for every 0.62 miles. In comparison, the Toyota Prius, an American hybrid, delivers 55 miles to the gallon and the carbon-dioxides average at about 104 grams per 0.62 miles. Unfortunately, this car is purely a concept right now and it is not known whether this particular hybrid diesel electric vehicle will ever see the light of day.
The future seems to be bright when it comes to most hybrid diesel electric concepts, however. There have been numerous studies that have shown that greenhouse gas emissions absolutely will be reduced by these hybrid diesel electric vehicles as they are produced and sold. The impact that hybrid diesel electric vehicles can actually be extremely surprising, making the research behind these vehicles even more important.

Electric cars have been the wave of the future, promising to provide us with the fuel-independent transportation alternative that we’ve been looking for. Car companies are scrambling to create the electric cars that we want, pushing out their newest electric models as quickly as they can.
It is important for everyone to completely understand where we are at with electric cars, where we are trying to get with these different electric cars, and what the future holds for this new type of vehicle.
Where Are We At?
Companies are currently working to get their first electric cars out on the market. Cars are coming out in limited numbers, with electric vehicles like the Electric Mini coming out in small test batches. The Chevy Volt is going to be the first mainstream, mass-market electric vehicle to be released. The car, expected to launch toward the end of 2010, is an electric hybrid that relies on the electric battery for up to 40 miles. Beyond that, the car will rely on the usual gasoline engine to be powered.
Where Are We Trying to Get?
Eventually, we are trying to get toward something that may seem somewhat unreachable. We are looking to have affordable electric cars that will be able to go hundreds of miles without a charge. As it currently stands, most cars will only be able to reach a maximum of 100 miles on one charge.
These cars will also be expensive; the Chevy Volt is expected to be about $40,000 dollars. Eventually, we are trying to get to electric cars that are cheaper and more affordable. The Ford EV is leading the charge, using a common platform and already-created base in an attempt to lower costs.
What Does the Future Hold
The next few years will be crucial for the electric car. Companies are looking to release their electric vehicles in 2011 and 2012, working to get their first cars on the market. The future for electric vehicles is bright, as many realize that this is the future of car technology. Unfortunately, we must go through the growing pains of a new and untested market before we can reach that future. Look for extended mileage, extended speeds, faster pick-up times, and faster charges as companies push through to newer models of their electric cars.
Electric cars have made incredible strides in recent years thanks to the rise in gas prices. As more and more people worry about the price of gas and dependence on foreign oil, electric cars will become more and more popular. Car companies have come a long way by finally coming out with vehicles, like the Chevy Volt, that rely on electricity for a part of their overall energy. As time moves forward, we look for affordable electric cars that can meet all of our needs, whether they be distance, speed, or cost. Eventually, these vehicles will meet our needs, and the technology will become as common as gasoline engines are today.

The electric car market is expected to boom over the next few years as more and more companies start to enter the electric car market. Chevrolet will be releasing the Chevy Volt in late 2010, and will be followed by offerings from Nissan and Toyota, among other companies.
It can be easy to jump on the electric car bandwagon, and for good reason; these cars are helping to remove us from our dependence on foreign oil and are helping us to combat high gas prices. With that being said, it is important for all to understand electric hybrids and electric cars, what they have to offer, and what their shortcomings are.
What is It?
An electric hybrid is a vehicle that works to partner the electric battery with the combustible engine that we have all been accustomed to. The electric battery will be able to carry the vehicle for a certain distance without having to use any gas. The Chevrolet Volt is a prime example; the car will be able to reach a full 40 miles of travel without having to use the combustible motor located in the car. After the car reaches that point, the combustible motor kicks in.
This motor is going to be more efficient than other motors, as it is going to harness some of the power offered by the electric battery motor. The engine will work to generate a small amount of electricity, which will help to ease the load of the motor and extend the life of a tank of gas. The Chevy Volt is expected to get 50 miles per gallon with the combustible motor on and running.
How are they Charged?
Electric hybrids are actually going to be able to be charged right at your home. They will have plugs that will be able to go directly into an outlet outside of your home, allowing you to fuel up on energy before each run that you make. This works to make electric hybrids easy to use, as you will not need to stop at a gas station or “electricity station” to get your vehicle to work.
What’s Coming?
There are plenty of different vehicles that will be coming out to the market, each with their own unique properties and abilities. Ford will be coming out with a Focus that is electric powered. While the car does not feature new styling, it will shoot to have a range of 100 miles between electric charges. The Nissan Leaf is going to be another electric car offering, featuring a lower price than the Volt and a higher range of around 100 miles for each charge. Toyota plans on releasing a vehicle in 2012, while Tesla works to release the Model S in late 2011.
As you can see, the electric car market is just starting to get popular, and is just now seeing power and force. The next few years will be crucial as the public gets their first taste of the electric car and what it can offer.

The market for electric vehicles is strong, as companies jockey to be the first to come to the market with an impressive offering. While the Chevy Volt will be the first mainstream and somewhat affordable electric car to hit the market, companies are still working to knock that company and that car off of their thrones.
Enter Tesla and Toyota. These two car companies are going to team up to develop the various aspects needed to create electric vehicles. The two will work together on the production system, the parts for these cars, the actual cars themselves, and the engineering support needed to handle it. The companies are also planning on forming a team of specialists that they will share, constantly working to be on the forefront of electric car technology.
This partnership will bring to life the shuttered Northern California plant from Toyota, as it will be the new facility for the engineering team and for the actual creation of the cars. Tesla will be releasing their model S car, one that is helping to bring power and force into the world of hybrids and electric cars. Toyota is planning on releasing their electric vehicle in 2012. This partnership will help to strengthen Toyota’s electric car offering.
So what does this partnership actually do for the world of electric vehicles? The partnership is going to create a strong bond between two companies who are looking to penetrate the electric car market. Tesla helps to bring style and power to the table, while Toyota helps to bring experience in the market, thanks to the Toyota Prius. Toyota already works to produce cars on an incredible mass market, helping to bring Tesla into a completely different vehicle game.
The result could easily be one of the best electric vehicles on the market as both companies combine their unique powers in the car industry. The companies are going to have the power to work a little harder on new technology and are creating a powerful joint team that will work to create an affordable and accessible electric car.
While the partnership will take a few years to actually get into full force, the results will be somewhat immediate. You can expect to see traces of this powerful partnership in Toyota’s 2012 electric offering. This will serve as a tester for the concepts that the partnership will crank out, giving them the feedback that they need to create a strong vehicle.
While some look down on these collaborations, others realize the importance that they will have on the overall electric vehicle market. These companies will combine to create electric cars that can go further, for cheaper, and at faster speeds. In the end, these partnerships will completely push the technology of electric vehicles, helping to move the cars closer to our expectations. While the change will be slow, Toyota and Tesla will be at the head of the pack.

July 30th, 2010 — Benefits of Hybrids, Chevy, Hybrid Diesel Electric
While electric cars are an important step in the future of reliable and renewable energy, there are some questions that remain. It is important to completely vet the different options that we have for electric cars to understand where we are and where we still need to be. While there are plenty of different questions that come into play when considering electric cars, there area few questions that remain that need to be answered.
How to Calculate MPG
One of the major questions regarding electric cars revolves around the actual miles per gallon of the car. While different car companies claim various miles per gallon for their vehicles, the industry has yet to come up with an actual standard. When reading the miles per gallon for different electric vehicles you must keep this in mind, understanding that while the number may be fairly accurate, it is not completely regulated.
How Much Energy It Takes
Electric cars are amazing, in part, because they can actually be charged from the comfort of your home. Different extensions and parts will allow you to use a home outlet to charge the vehicle for use. One questions still remains, however, as we work to understand how the electric car will affect our life: How much energy does it really take to charge one of these vehicles? Answers are sparse, as we still wait to understand the affect that electric car charging will have on our home utility bills.
How Practical Are They?
Electric cars are going to be perfect for city driving; they can easily reach higher speeds that are needed for city driving. Questions remain as to how these electric cars will handle extreme, highway driving. The cars are known for having a weak pick-up time, and many revert to the usual gasoline-powered engine once they work to reach certain speeds. In terms of practicality, the electric car might not be the right choice for your current lifestyle.
How Powerful Are They?
Different electric cars have different levels of power, as each company works to hold up their brand. Companies like Tesla and BMW are going to be known for their power, while weaker models from companies like Chevy may not be as powerful. As companies threaten to come out with their own electric vehicles, we sit and wait to understand how powerful the cars really are.
How Expensive Are They?
As prices start to come out for electric vehicles we truly understand how expensive it can be to own one. The Chevy Volt will come in at far more than $25,000, making it somewhat expensive vehicle for those who are looking to see price-relief from high gas prices. As time goes on, we need to ask how expensive these cars are, and how long it will take the prices to drop.
